<dc:description>Microbial natural products have long been recognized as promising sources for the development of novel antimicrobial agents. In recent decades, numerous microbial secondary metabolites, such as antimicrobial peptides, bacteriocins, and mycocins, have been identified for their potential applications in the food, agriculture, and pharmaceutical industries. However, only a few, such as nisin and natamycin, have been effectively implemented in food systems as alternatives to conventional antimicrobial agents.</dc:description>
