Catatan There have been various reports in the literature on the abysmally low level of development in statistical practice and collaboration in developing countries. To enhance the teaching and learning of statistics in developing countries, the LISA 2020 Program of the University of Colorado Boulder, United States is partnering with universities around the world to create a network of statistical collaboration laboratories (stat labs) in developing countries. This is in a bid to develop statistical practice and collaboration in the developing world. The vision to write this book dates back to almost ten years ago, precisely August 16, 2012 when I expressed this idea to the Global Director of LISA 2020, Professor Eric Vance via an email shortly before my historic visit to his stat lab at Virginia Tech in 2013 as the First LISA Fellow. He quickly obliged but opined that we needed more years to learn, practice, and collaborate with more people before writing such a book. This book is a collection of thoughts and ex

He quickly obliged but opined that we needed more years to learn, practice, and collaborate with more people before writing such a book. This book is a collection of thoughts and experiences of eighty erudite scholars from the LISA 2020 Global Network around the world. It is the product of several years of learning the art and practice of statistical collaboration. The task of bringing this book to your table has not only been assiduous but an arduous one that is laden with several sleepless nights of painstakingly ensuring quality contents for the past two years when we brought up the idea again during one of the biweekly zoom meetings of the LISA 2020 Global Network. We are highly grateful to USAID for supporting the idea of funding this book. I thank God that it has finally become a reality! Special thanks also goes to FAPESP and Professor R. Dias for personally supporting me during the course of this project. The book provides a new insight into the current issues and opportunities in statistics education, statistical consulting, and collaboration. There are 38 chapters in the book and a bonus chapter by one of the most respected scholars in the field of statistical consulting, Emeritus Professor Douglas Zahn. The main objective of the book is to address the topics of individual chapters from the perspectives of the historical context, the present state, and future directions of statistical training and practice, so that readers may fully understand the challenges and opportunities in the field of statistics education and collaboration, especially in developing countries.
