| Abstrak | This Reprint presents practical solutions for integrating and actively managing distributed energy resources in modern distribution systems. The rapid growth of renewable generation, electric vehicles, energy storage, flexible loads, and microgrids is transforming passive networks into active, complex systems, while utilities face stricter requirements for reliability, resilience, efficiency, and security. Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMSs) and Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMSs) are central to this transformation. Through real-time monitoring, analytics, forecasting, optimization, and coordinated control, they enable utilities to accommodate high DER penetration while maintaining system performance. The Reprint comprises seven contributions, six original research articles and one review, from academia, industry, and national laboratories across the United States, Europe, and Asia. Topics include scalable data acquisition for ADMSs, AI-based short-term load forecasting, the effects of model quality and measurement density on volt/VAR optimization, renewable hosting-capacity assessment, and transmission–distribution co-simulation. Additional studies address power hardware-in-the-loop evaluation of wave-energy integration and improved post-fault calculations using accurate doubly fed induction machine models. Together, the contributions connect data, modeling, analytics, simulation, optimization, and experimental validation, offering researchers and utility practitioners a broad perspective on building flexible, sustainable, and resilient distribution systems. |
