Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze and prove the influence of prophetic
leadership and competence on librarian career maturity at the Islamic Islamic
College (PTI) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). The method of collecting
data using questionnaires was distributed to 86 respondents. Data analysis by
means of descriptive statistical tests, correlations, and multiple regression.
Respondents’ perceptions of research variables at DIY PTI are in the high to very
high category. Prophetic leadership in the high category with a perception value
of 79.38; competence in qualifications is very high with an appreciation score
of 81.66; and the level of librarian career maturity in high qualifications with
a value of 77.82. Partially from the test results, obtained a substantial number
t statistics of prophetic leadership variables worth (1,282). With substantial
numbers, statistics are greater than the substantial level of 5% or (0.204> 0.05),
meaning that the prophetic leadership variables partially do not have an impact
on librarian career maturity. While from the test results, obtained a substantial
number t statistics from the competency variable worth (8.876). With a substantial
number t statistics are smaller than a substantial level of 5% or (0.000 <0.05)
meaning that the competency variables partially have an impact on librarian
career maturity. Simultaneous and Competitive Leadership simultaneously have
a significant influence on Career Maturity, obtained by F statistic value of 48,585
with a substantial level of 0.000 <0.05. This means that the hypothesis is accepted.
From the results of the study it can be concluded that librarian career maturity can
be built through prophetic leadership and competency.

I. PENDAHULUAN
Generasi mahasiswa milenium saat ini lebih terbiasa mencari informasi
melalui media online daripada mengunjungi fasilitas perpustakaan fisik,
dibandingkan dengan generasi mahasiswa sebelumnya. Fenomena
telah menunjukkan bahwa peran fasilitas perpustakaan secara fisik
sebagai titik pengumpulan bahan bacaan dan referensi sedang terancam
oleh ketersediaan mesin pencari online gratis dan berkecepatan tinggi.
Perpustakaan universitas selalu menjadi bagian integral dalam kegiatan
pembelajaran pendidikan tinggi, dan mereka tidak dikecualikan dari
ancaman ini.
Masyarakat dapat belajar seumur hidup melalui perpustakaan. Untuk
mewujudkan perpustakaan sebagai sumber belajar informasi yang dimiliki
harus dapat memenuhi kebutuhan pemustaka. Kepemilikan informasi
tersebut akan sangat tergantung pada kiprah pustakawannya. Kiprah
