Qualifications of Librarians and Libraries
Finally, from the needs of users to interact in the library, there are two
main demands, namely the library and librarians. As a place to interact,
the library must provide a comfortable space for the gathering of users, the
space ordered furniture that causes the user to be able to face each other
in the discussion. The library must also have supporting facilities so that
users can linger in interaction because all routine needs are available in
the library. Then, even though almost all users have their own information
sources, they will still need printed reference sources. For this reason, the
library must arrange the layout that makes the collection of information
sources easily accessible by the user so that he does not need to leave
the room during the discussion. To make the library more free to talk a
bit louder, the library must arrange space so that the discussion does not
disturb those who are concentrating on reading or studying.
As mentioned above, many librarians have a role in the interaction
between users, so to do this librarians must have extensive insight and
knowledge, especially knowledge of many things around the living
environment, which are generally members of the community living around
the library. Librarians must have extensive knowledge of the latest issues
that are being discussed by various groups. This is very necessary when it
comes to determining the most appropriate reference to the situation when
interactions occur between users. The librarian must also have extensive
knowledge about sources of information that are legal, not illegal or
prohibited, so that he can prevent users from using sources of information
that may be true but are illegal. The librarians are also able to record and
store the results of meetings and discussions so that they can be directly
provided when the next discussion is conducted again, and can also keep
the results a secret if the users request it. The most needed is the ability of
librarians to lead discussions in interactions so that they flow smoothly, but
can also still give the final decision to the user as a result of interaction. So
with that competency, librarians are truly capable of being an interaction
companion.
IV.CONCLUSION
From the results and discussion, it can be concluded that the presence
of information and communication technology that gave birth to the digital
era does not replace the role of libraries and librarians. It is because human
needs are not only fulfilled by digital data and information possessed but
by interactions with others in their lives. In the digital era where data and
information can be accessed without visiting a library, the library still be
