The model shows the complexity of the ISB process conceptualised
in terms of the interaction and simultaneous occurrence of the model’s
components and variables, including a feedback mechanism (White,
2016). For example, ID U-05 investigated the work roles are divided
based on career stage and specialisation stage. On the other hand, not all
component applicable to the advocate in a model of information seeking
of professionals. Moreover, ID M-04 studied the faculty member’s ISB
and showed that professionals ISB model consists of the component
such as information needs, information sources, and an introduction or
understanding of information content. The finding also showed that the
information about education, followed by financial management and
organisation, is needed. The internet is a source most used, followed by
            journal articles.
Information need, however, has no accepted definition, though there
have been numerous suggestions (Case, 2007). Dervin (1983) suggests that
a need is a state that arises within a person, suggesting some gap that requires
filling; and when applied to the word information, as in information need,
what is proposed is a gap that can be filled by something that the needing
person calls “information”. To fulfil information needs, people need to
search through information channels and information sources. Rogers
(1995) defined information channel as a means by which information is
moved from one point to another, usually from the information source to the
receiver such as face-to-face, radio, or the internet. Further, the information
source is defined as a medium in which knowledge or information is stored
or the originator of a message, for instance, an agency representative, or a
            friend (Rogers, 1995).
In line with a model of information seeking of professionals, the
field of work-related ISB is relatively well-defined and self-explanatory
